PARENTS LEARNING GROUP

Christian Sexuality: Raising Kids

Mondays, Oct. 5 – Nov. 23 | 6:30–8 pm
Rooftop Church | Childcare Provided

Talking to our kids about sex, gender, their bodies, relationships, and everything they encounter in our culture can feel overwhelming. What should we say? When should we say it? And how can we create a relationship where our kids feel safe coming to us with their questions?

This fall, Rooftots is inviting parents to learn together through "Christian Sexuality: Raising Kids," an eight-week, video-based study designed to equip parents of children 12 and under to have these conversations with biblical wisdom, grace, and confidence.

Jessica Delmez, Rooftot's children's director, and other leaders on the ministry team will guide this learning group.

Rather than relying on one big, awkward “talk,” the course encourages parents to make these topics part of an ongoing conversation with their kids. Each Monday, we’ll watch teaching from the course, talk through what we’re learning, ask questions, and discuss practical ways to disciple our kids as they grow.

You don’t have to have all the answers. Come learn alongside other Rooftop parents as we work toward becoming trusted, safe voices in our kids’ lives.

Childcare is provided, so bring the kids and join us. Whether your children are preschoolers or approaching the teen years, now is a great time to build the trust and habits that can keep these important conversations going for years to come.

What We’ll Talk About

Oct. 5 — How Much Am I Worth?
Gospel & Identity
How do we help our kids understand that their value and identity come from God rather than their bodies, accomplishments, popularity, or what others say about them?

Oct. 12 — Can Two Girls Marry Each Other?
Marriage & Singleness
How can we explain God’s design for marriage and sexuality while also helping our kids understand the value of singleness, friendship, and other relationships?

Oct. 19 — What Makes Me a Boy or a Girl?
Gender
How can we talk with our children about being male and female and respond to questions about gender with biblical clarity, compassion, and love?

Oct. 26 — Where Do Babies Come From?
Sex & Our Bodies
How much should we tell our kids—and when? We’ll talk about age-appropriate ways to explain sex, reproduction, and God’s good design for our bodies.

Nov. 2 — Why Does That Guy Look Like a Girl?
Engaging People with Grace & Truth
Our kids will encounter people whose beliefs and experiences differ from ours. How do we teach them to hold biblical convictions while treating every person with dignity, kindness, and love?

Nov. 9 — Is My Teacher Always Right?
Engaging Culture & Systems
Kids receive messages about sexuality and gender from school, friends, entertainment, and culture. We’ll discuss how to help them think critically and biblically about what they hear.

Nov. 16 — Do I Have to Hug Them?
Protecting Our Kids’ Bodies
How can we teach healthy boundaries, body autonomy, appropriate and inappropriate touch, and other tools that help children understand and protect their bodies?

Nov. 23 — Can I Have a Cellphone?
Protecting Our Kids’ Minds
Screens open a whole new world to our kids—both good and bad. We’ll talk about digital discipleship, technology, pornography, and how to prepare kids to navigate an increasingly online world.

Want to support parents?

Volunteer to care for kids while parents learn more about scripture and God's wisdom in raising children. We hope to gather enough volunteers so than each one works once a month - two shifts throughout the study. Caregivers must complete a background check. Fill out the online form to serve.
