EXPLANATION:
Church is as much about what goes on the rest of the week as it is about Sunday morning, but the Sunday morning worship service is crucial for inviting and/or propelling people into the week-long life of the church. For the newcomer, Sunday morning is often the "front door" to the church, and their experience may determine whether they decide to involve themselves more deeply at Rooftop, or even if they ever come back. More significantly, the Sunday morning newcomer may be checking out more than just "church"-they may be checking out God-and a good or bad experience on Sunday may draw them to or push them away from the one for whom we even "do church" in the first place. For the regular attender of Rooftop who is a follower of Christ, Sunday morning is often a time to recharge and refocus, that they may more effectively glorify God on Monday morning and throughout the week.
So what happens Sunday is important to the life of the church. And while people commonly (and rightfully) anticipate God using the music and message to reach people, God works through other means, as well. For example, a sincere greeting at the door may be just what the God uses to show a visitor his love and truth; a glitch-free slide show of the worship lyrics is an unglamorous but key element of entering God's presence through song; and the effectiveness of free coffee in enhancing the receptors by which the human soul may experience the grace of God is well documented.
The Sunday ministry teams attend to these details and more. Details on each of the teams are listed below, and for more information on any aspect of Sunday morning ministries, contact one of the team leaders or AP Jason.
SUNDAY MORNING MINISTRY COORDINATOR:
Jason Herbig
jason@rooftop.org, 314-842-2000
Greeting:
PURPOSE:
To help everyone who enters Rooftop's doors on Sunday morning to feel like a welcomed participant in the Rooftop community.
GUIDING VERSE:
"Greet all God's people in Christ Jesus..." (Phil 4:21).
EXPLANATION:
Being new to a specific church can be intimidating. Questions like, "Where do I go?" or "What should I be doing right now?" can keep a person from letting down their guard and receiving what God may have to offer and teach through the church. Rooftop greeters reduce this anxiety and facilitate a welcoming and warm church-going experience literally from the moment you walk in the door. In addition to welcoming, the greeters also hand out programs, answer questions, and serve as ushers during the actual service.
IF YOU WANT TO GET INVOLVED:
-Contact Nathan to be put on the official greeting rotation, so that he can provide you the training and information to get involved on the team.
-Just start greeting people on Sunday mornings, especially people you don't know. You don't have to be an "official greeter" to be friendly to the people around you and assist the greeting team in achieving its goal.

Hospitality:
PURPOSE:
To serve other Rooftoppers and guests by making available food and drink for them as they enjoy community time at church.
GUIDING VERSE:
"Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it." (Heb 13:2).
EXPLANATION:
Throughout history, food and community have had a special relationship. Whenever people get together, there is usually food in their midst, whether hanging out in a coffee shop, sharing a large popcorn at the movies, or having 12 of your closest friends over for a special dinner. The hospitality team brings this tradition to the people of Rooftop every week, making sure that there are hot drinks and delicious bagels or other treats available for old friends and new acquaintances to share.
IF YOU WANT TO GET INVOLVED:
-Contact Sarah to get involved in this ministry, or if you have any ideas to improve the quality of our hospitality program.

Sound & Projection:
PURPOSE:
To make sure everything shouted from the Rooftop is heard clearly heard by those wanting to listen and that everything shown from the Rooftop is clearly seen by those wanting to see.
GUIDING VERSE:
"...faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ" (Rom. 10:17).
EXPLANATION:
Ah, technology... Many of us fear it. Few of us understand it. God uses it. Specifically, God uses volunteer sound and projection technicians at Rooftop to increase the likelihood that his message gets through in a clear and convicting manner to those who need to hear it. Our sound crew controls the sound board, mikes the band and preacher, maintains cable integrity, and performs numerous other tasks each week. Meanwhile, our projection team controls what makes it onto the screen, whether it be words, pictures, diagrams, or movie clips; they also control the stage and room lighting for the service. Our prayer before each worship service is that the musicians and speakers of the day are spiritually prepared to communicate God's love and truth. Additionally, God makes sure-through the work of Rooftop's tech crews-that we are technologically prepared to pass on his love and truth.
IF YOU WANT TO GET INVOLVED:
