PURPOSE:

To facilitate and model consistent, bold, honest, and effective prayer among Rooftoppers.

GUIDING VERSES:

"Is any one of you in trouble?  He should pray.  Is anyone happy?  Let him sing songs of praise.  Is any one of you sick?  He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord.  And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up.  If he has sinned, he will be forgiven.  Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.  The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective" (James 5:13-16).

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:6-7).

"...pray continually..." (1 Thessalonians 5:17).

EXPLANATION:

God invites every one of his followers to continually engage with him in the dialogue of prayer.  The goal of Rooftop's prayer team is NOT to replace this relationship-building communication between God and his followers at Rooftop, but to enhance it.  We aim to motivate and instruct people in their conversation with God by providing opportunities for community prayer, by encouraging the sharing of praises and prayer needs with others, and (most importantly) by praying for and with followers of Christ at Rooftop.

IF YOU WANT TO GET INVOLVED:

• Email Kyle to be placed on the weekly prayer email list that is sent out to many of Rooftop's most intentional intercessors. Additionally, let Kyle know if you would like to make yourself available to serve on the prayer team.
• Share your praises or prayer needs with the prayer team by writing them on an info card on Sunday or emailing them to Kyle.
• Contact Kyle or any of Rooftop's elders to arrange a time to be prayed over for any needs you may have.
• Attend the monthly churchwide prayer meeting at Rooftop the 1^st Wednesday of every month at 7:30.
