Prayer Ministry

PURPOSE:

To facilitate and model consistent, bold, honest, and effective prayer among Rooftoppers.

RELEVANT ROOFTOP VALUES:

GUIDING VERSES:

"Is any one of you in trouble?  He should pray.  Is anyone happy?  Let him sing songs of praise.  Is any one of you sick?  He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord.  And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up.  If he has sinned, he will be forgiven.  Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.  The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective" (James 5:13-16).

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:6-7).

"...pray continually..." (1 Thessalonians 5:17).

EXPLANATION:

God invites every one of his followers to continually engage with him in the dialogue of prayer.  The goal of Rooftop's prayer team is NOT to replace this relationship-building communication between God and his followers at Rooftop, but to enhance it.  We aim to motivate and instruct people in their conversation with God by providing opportunities for community prayer, by encouraging the sharing of praises and prayer needs with others, and (most importantly) by praying for and with followers of Christ at Rooftop.

IF YOU WANT TO GET INVOLVED:

  • Email Kyle to be placed on the weekly prayer email list that is sent out to many of Rooftop's most intentional intercessors. Additionally, let Kyle know if you would like to make yourself available to serve on the prayer team.
  • Share your praises or prayer needs with the prayer team by writing them on an info card on Sunday or emailing them to Kyle.
  • Contact Kyle or any of Rooftop's elders to arrange a time to be prayed over for any needs you may have.
  • Attend the monthly churchwide prayer meeting at Rooftop the 1st Wednesday of every month at 7:30.
  • Fill out the Prayer Survey on the Rooftop forums at the following link (you'll have to log into the website to view the survey): http://rooftop.org/CS/forums/3984/ShowThread.aspx#3984
  • Pray!

  • Mexico Trip Prayer Meeting

    Do you love to eat?  Enjoy getting to know fellow Rooftopers?  Have a heart for missions?  Plan on going to the Rooftop Mexico Mission Trip this year?  If you answered yes to any of these questions, meet us in the Living Room area after second service on October 14, November 4, and December 2 to pray for the upcoming trip and the people of Mexico.  After praying, we plan on going out to eat together.  All are welcome!

  • Campus Crusade for Christ Prayer Event

    Lee Watkins is on staff with Campus Crusade for Christ, and one of the missionaries supported by Rooftop.  He gives the following invitation to all:

    I wanted to let you know about a couple of dates and times that we will be praying over our campuses before the semester starts, asking the Lord to move in the hearts of students and in the community. We'd love to have some members of Rooftop there, I'm sure it would be encouraging to them, and I know that it would be encouraging to our students to have people from the community there that care about their campus. Thanks for your encouragement and support of the work the Lord is doing through us here, and I hope to see you soon.

    Here are the dates and locations:

    Friday, August 17th, 7:00pm @ ST. LOUIS COLLEGE OF PHARMACY. We'll be meeting in front of the dorms, STLCOP is located just East of Barnes Jewish off of Kingshighway and Children's Place.

    Sunday, August 19th, 6:30pm @ WEBSTER UNIVERSITY. We're meeting in front of the Library which is south of Big Bend on Edgar Rd. in Webster Groves. The Parking Garage is located East of Edgar on Garden Ave (which runs right into the Library).

  • Prayer Meeting

    On the first Wednesday of every month Rooftop holds a church-wide prayer meeting at 7:30 at the building.  At Rooftop, we believe that prayer is the most powerful force in the universe.   • Monthly Prayer Meeting

    Join us the first Wednesday of each month for a church-wide prayer event.

    When - Our next meeting will be Wednesday, Apr. 4th. Meet us at the building at 7:30 PM to pray for our church, our leaders, our world, ourselves, or anything God puts on our hearts.
